Name: Annual Run for Safe Streets
    Date: August 1, 2021 - August 7, 2021
    Event Description:
Idaho Walk Bike Alliance wants to encourage everyone to get outside and get more exercise with our first ever 5K, 10K, half marathon and kids’ run. We are offering a virtual option so people throughout Idaho can participate and win prizes. Information on how to participate in the virtual competitions will be sent to participants upon registration. For people who want to participate in other areas, they can run the race distance of their choosing during August 1 through 7. We will have photo competitions for statewide participants to engage in. Winners of the categories below will receive a $20 visa gift card: Farthest route from Boise Most scenic route (must include more than 1 scenic view) Best route along the water (photos required) Participant with the most elevation gain Largest group of participants (group selfie required!) Virtual participants will receive their packet in the mail after the event, which will include their t-shirt, medal and prize! “After the year we’ve gone through, we need to get outside, meet people off-Zoom and engage in a fun community activity. Whether you enjoy running like I do, have missed meeting people in the real world, or just want to be outside with your community, we can do so together,” says Tecle Gebremicheal. Tecle is an Idaho Walk Bike Alliance board member and an avid runner himself. “We also want people to know what we do, which is to make the streets safer for everyone using the streets using their own power. This is an inclusive and fun way to get our message out to everyone.” About the Idaho Walk Bike Alliance The mission of the Idaho Walk Bike Alliance is to promote active transportation as healthy, safe, and reliable for all Idahoans.
